Cookie Policy and Cookie Notice
1. Purpose and Scope
At Biosmyrna Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (“Biosmyrna”, the “Company”), we care about the privacy of users who visit the https://www.biosmyrna.com website (the “Website”).
This Cookie Policy and Cookie Notice has been prepared to provide information about the data processing activities carried out through cookies and similar technologies used on the Website.
No cookies are used on the Website for advertising, marketing or retargeting purposes. In addition to the session cookie necessary for the operation and security of the site, Google Analytics cookies are used to measure visit statistics only with your explicit consent.
The provisions of Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (“KVKK”) and the related legislation apply to personal data processing activities carried out through cookies.

3. What Is a Cookie?
Cookies are small text files that websites save on users’ devices. Cookies allow certain features of a website to work, a session to be maintained and security to be ensured.
In addition to cookies, there are technologies used for similar purposes, such as browser storage (local storage). In this Policy, the term “cookie” also covers these similar technologies, depending on their nature.
Pixels, web beacons or similar tracking technologies are not used on the Website.
4. Purposes for Which Cookies Are Used
4.1. Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are cookies needed for the Website’s basic functions to work, for its security to be ensured, for a session to be established and for the service expressly requested by the user to be provided.
The necessary cookie used on the Website is the session cookie. Without this cookie, form submissions cannot be completed securely.
Strictly necessary cookies may be used without obtaining explicit consent where the conditions set out in the relevant legislation are met.
4.2. Functional Technologies
To remember user preferences, browser storage (local storage) is used rather than cookies. These records are kept only on the user’s own device and are not sent to our servers.
Three records are stored in this way: the display theme (light/dark), the products added to the quote list and your cookie consent choice. The first two are created only when the user presses the relevant button; the third when a choice is made in the cookie banner.
4.3. Analytics, Marketing and Advertising Cookies
Google Analytics is used to measure visit statistics (aggregate information such as how often pages are visited). These cookies work only if you select “Accept” in the cookie banner; if you do not give consent, no analytics cookie is set.
Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled. No cookies or similar technologies are used on the Website for marketing, advertising or retargeting purposes; there is no Google Ads, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag or any similar advertising technology.
5. Types of Cookies
Session cookies: cookies used while the Website is being visited and that expire when the browser is closed. The necessary session cookie is of this type. Google Analytics cookies, by contrast, are persistent cookies; their duration is given in the table below.
First-party cookies: cookies created directly on the Website’s domain. All cookies on the Website are created on the Website’s domain.
Third-party cookies: no cookies are placed on the Website from another domain. However, data collected through the Google Analytics cookies used with your explicit consent is processed by Google.
6. Details of the Cookies Used
The table below has been prepared by measuring the Website’s actual output.
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration | Party | Explicit consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| pw577 | Cookie | Strictly necessary | Maintaining the session and forgery (CSRF) protection for form submissions | Expires when the browser is closed; at most 24 hours | First party | Not required |
| bio-theme | Browser storage (not a cookie) | Functional | Remembering the light/dark theme preference. Created only when the user presses the theme button; does not leave the device | Until the user deletes browser data | First party | Not required |
| bio-quote-list | Browser storage (not a cookie) | Functional | Remembering the products added to the quotation list. Created only when the user adds a product; does not leave the device | Until the user deletes browser data | First party | Not required |
| _ga | Cookie | Analytics | Producing aggregate visit statistics by distinguishing visitors | 2 years | First party (data processed by Google) | Required |
| _ga_<id> | Cookie | Analytics | Maintaining session state | 2 years | First party (data processed by Google) | Required |
| bio-consent | Browser storage (not a cookie) | Strictly necessary | Remembering your cookie consent choice. Created when a choice is made in the cookie banner; does not leave the device | 12 months | First party | Not required |
In addition to the above, a cookie for session verification is created only for authorised users who log in to Biosmyrna’s administration panel. This cookie is not created for site visitors.
The cookie list is updated if there is a change in the Website’s technical structure or the services used.
7. Legal Basis for Cookies
The necessary session cookie is required for the operation of the site and for the secure provision of the service explicitly requested by the user (form submission). It may therefore be used without explicit consent where the conditions laid down in the applicable legislation are met.
Google Analytics cookies are not necessary; under Article 5/1 of the KVKK and the related legislation they are used only on the basis of your explicit consent. Not giving consent does not affect your use of the Website.
A user visiting or continuing to use the Website does not mean they have given explicit consent with respect to non-essential cookies.
8. Managing Cookie Preferences
You can give your cookie preference in the cookie banner shown on your first visit; the “Accept” and “Decline” options are presented equally. You can change your preference and withdraw your consent at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of the page; when you withdraw consent, analytics cookies are deleted and measurement stops. Your preference is kept for 12 months and then asked again.
9. Deleting and Blocking Cookies
Users can always delete or block cookies and browser storage records through the settings of the internet browser they use.
If the session cookie is blocked, the Website will continue to be displayed; however, form submissions may not be completed because security verification cannot be carried out.
10. Transfer of Data Abroad
The necessary session cookie and browser storage records are first-party; no data is sent through them to any service provider abroad.
The Website has no font service, content delivery network (CDN), security verification (CAPTCHA) service, map or embedded video component of foreign origin. All site resources, including fonts, are served from our own server.
If you give explicit consent to analytics cookies, data relating to visit statistics is processed by Google on servers abroad via Google Analytics. This transfer is carried out in accordance with the conditions laid down in Article 9 of the KVKK. If you do not give consent, no data is transferred abroad through cookies.
11. Data Processed Through Cookies
The strictly necessary session cookie used carries only a technical value that identifies the session. Through this cookie, information such as pages visited, visit duration, referring page and device and browser profile is not processed, user behaviour is not tracked and no profile is created.
With your explicit consent, information such as pages visited, visit duration, referring page, approximate location (country and city level), and device and browser type is processed through Google Analytics cookies for aggregate visit statistics. This information is not used for advertising or marketing, and no profiles are created.
The theme and quotation list preferences kept in browser storage do not leave the user’s device.
Due to the nature of internet infrastructure, connection information may appear in the server’s technical access logs; these logs do not originate from cookies and are used only for security and technical operation.
12. Purposes for Which Data Obtained Through Cookies Is Used
The strictly necessary session cookie is used only for the purposes of:
- operating the Website,
- maintaining the session,
- ensuring security in form submissions.
It is not used for statistical analysis, advertising or marketing.
With your explicit consent, data obtained through Google Analytics cookies is used only to measure the Website’s visit statistics in aggregate and to improve the site; it is not used for advertising or marketing.
13. Rights of the Data Subject
Data subjects whose personal data is processed through cookies may exercise their rights under Article 11 of the KVKK. These rights are listed in detail in the relevant section of the KVKK Privacy Notice.
For detailed information on exercising these rights and the application methods, please see the KVKK Privacy Notice and the KVKK Data Subject Application Procedure.
