Quality and Assurance

Quality Management

We manage quality from the product’s source to delivery.

At Biosmyrna, quality is not a single check carried out before the product reaches the customer. We observe quality criteria throughout the whole process, from sourcing the product to its acceptance, from its analyses to its storage and shipment.

Quality is not a single checkpoint; it is a process that continues throughout the product’s journey.

As a company trading in organic products, we see protecting the quality and organic identity of the product as one of the core elements of our business.

  1. Before Sourcing
  2. Product Acceptance
  3. Storage and Shipment
  4. Customer Requirements

Checks That Start Before Sourcing

Our quality management starts before the product reaches our facility.

  • Source

Assessing the product’s source and nature

  • Analysis Results

    Assessing the available analysis results

  • Specification

    Assessing the requested product characteristics

  • Organic Status

Assessing the product’s organic status and the scope of the relevant certification

When purchasing products, we assess the available analysis results and consider the product’s nature, source and the requested specifications together.

The organic status of the product being sourced and the scope of the relevant certification are also core elements of this assessment.

Analysis and Checks at Product Acceptance

We take samples from products arriving at the facility and carry out the checks required by the nature of the product.

  1. Sampling
  2. Routine / Rapid Checks
  3. Laboratory Analysis Where Needed
  4. Assessing Product and Market Requirements
  • On site

We carry out some of the routine and rapid checks using test kits and suitable measuring equipment at our facility.

  • Accredited laboratory

Where further technical examination is required, we send samples to the third-party accredited laboratories we work with.

  • Pesticides and GMO

Depending on product and market requirements in particular, we request pesticide analyses and, where necessary, GMO analyses.

  • Product and market requirements

This approach ensures that not only the product’s physical characteristics, but also its technical requirements for the customer and the market, are assessed.

We Protect Quality Throughout the Process

Checks do not end with product acceptance.

  • Storage

    Protecting the product’s characteristics

  • Product Preparation

    Protecting the product’s identity

  • Loading

Preparing the product correctly for shipment

  • Shipment

    Protecting product identity and traceability

During storage, product preparation, loading and shipment, we take care to protect the product’s physical characteristics, identity and traceability.

Biosmyrna’s commercial activities are limited to organic products only.

The fact that no conventional products are traded in our facilities and warehouses gives an important operational advantage in managing organic products.

A Written System, an Applied Process

Quality that starts with experience and is sustained by a system.

  1. Sourcing
  2. Product Acceptance
  3. Checks
  4. Analyses
  5. Storage
  6. Related Operations

We do not leave our quality management to personal experience or on-the-spot decisions.

We run sourcing, product acceptance, checks, analyses, storage and our other related processes in line with our written quality management system.

This system supports the standardisation of processes, the keeping of the necessary records and the continuous improvement of our practices.

We Take Customer Needs into Account

Not every product or every market has the same quality expectations.

  • Product specifications
  • Customer requests
  • Target market / regulatory requirements

→ Suitable check and analysis plan

We plan the necessary checks and analyses by assessing product specifications, customer requests, the target market and the relevant regulatory requirements together.

Our aim is not just to accept the product, but to offer the customer a reliable, traceable product that meets the agreed characteristics.

From source to delivery

For us, quality is not a feature written on the product; it is the whole process that stands behind it.
